Fertility Shopping List

Lots of you asked for a shopping list, to make your life easier.

This is my Shopping List.

For everyone BUT specifically for those wanting to know what foods to focus on for hormone balance and AWAKEN FERTILITY.


I mostly buy in bulk and dried over canned because it is cheaper - you get more for your money, and you avoid nasty BPA cans. Sometimes for convenience though I buy cans (BPA-free).

This is not an extensive list, but somewhere to start you off.



FATs 🧈🥛🥥

*Choose local to you, better for the environment and you will digest it better

YOU NEED FATS TO MAKE YOUR HORMONES. ALWAYS FULL-FAT, NEVER LOW-FAT.

  • Grass-fed Butter or Raw Butter

  • Ghee (Clarified butter) easy to make your own

  • Olive Oil, Unfiltered Single Origin (It is important to focus on single origin and not mixed oils and sometimes companies mix with toxic rapeseed or sunflower oil)

  • Full Fat Live Greek Yoghurt (never any fat-free)

  • Kefir (Plain is best)

  • Raw Milk or Organic unhomogenised Milk (from farm is best, but some supermarkets do Organic unhomogenised jersey milk, like Waitrose or Ocado)

  • Coconut oil

  • Coconut milk (organic, bpa free can if possible or Thai coconut milk in carton. Aim for just coconut and water, and minimal other ingredients or sugars - Guar gum is often added as a stabiliser which is ok)

  • Avocado


ANIMAL PRODUCTS - MEAT, FISH, EGGS 🥩🥚🐟

*Always choose local, wild, grass fed, pasture raised. Yes, it's more expensive but much better to buy a good piece of protein and have it rarely, than buying cheap meat with little nutrition and eating it regularly. Real meat and fish will satiate you and give your body what it needs.

  • Organic Free Range Pasture Grazing Eggs (I buy from a local farm £10 for 30 eggs and you see the chicken roaming in a huge field fed insects, worms etc) cheaper than the supermarket)

  • Grass-fed beef 12% or higher fat content

  • Organic Pasture Raised Chicken (buy skin on and in bone for collagen)

  • Organic Liver (to make pate or as it is)

  • Wild fish (avoid farmed fish as often they are full of parasites) Avoid Tuna due to High mercury content

  • Anchovies in olive oil (preferably in a glass jar)

  • Sardines in olive oil (preferably in a glass jar)

  • Oysters (Aphrodisiac and Full of minerals including Zinc for egg quality)


FRUITS & VEGETABLES (Seasonal, Local) 🍋🥕🥒

More fruit in Summer, Less in Winter

It makes eating exciting! when you look forward to a season! I love waiting until June to eat strawberries! I appreciate them more!

Starches and root veg in autumn/winter

More greens in spring, summer

  • Anything you love

  • All fruits support fertility, they are fertile in nature.

  • Plenty of greens (kale, swiss chard, pak choi, lettuce, spinach, rocket)

  • Sweet potatoes: Contain beta carotene, which may boost progesterone 

  • Yams are the ultimate fertility food and traditional given to women trying to conceive and pregnant women in Africa.

  • Plantain

  • Carrots are brilliant at balancing oestrogen levels

    BEAnS/NUTS/SEEDS

  • Dried Legumes (Chickpeas, black beans, mung dal, butter beans, whatever beans you like)

    They contain folate which may improve implantation rates and contain soluble fibre which aid in liver detoxification and hormone balance.

  • Nuts (walnuts, brazil, almond (I don’t eat a lot of nuts and seeds as a PITTA dosha)

  • Seeds (Sesame, pumpkin, chia)

GRAINS 🌾

  • Wild Rice

  • Millet

FLOUR 🌾

  • Gram flour (made from chickpeas)

  • Gluten-free blend doves farm plain flour

  • Organic wholemeal flour

  • Organic bread flour (for making Sourdough)

  • Bicarbonate of soda (for raising/baking and cleaning)


CONDIMENTS

  • Tamari (gluten free traditional soy sauce)

  • Celtic Sea Salt

  • Black Pepper

  • Tahini

  • Tomato passata/chopped tomatoes in a glass bottle or BPA-free can

  • Coconut milk in carton or fresh (I tend to buy local raw cows milk instead to focus on local produce, but occasionally I like to make asian food and need coconut)


SWEET

  • Wild Local Raw Honey (This is really a medicine and considered astringent not sweet in Ayurveda) Its an incredible healing food.

  • Maple Syrup

  • Vanilla pod or powder (Avoid essence with alcohol and preservatives)


PROBIOTIC FOODS

*Cheaper and fulfilling to make own especially sauerkraut, kombucha and Kefir

  • Kimchi

  • Kombucha

  • Sauerkraut (So easy to make its just cabbage and salt)

  • Live Yoghurt (For example: In the ingredients it will say: L. acidophilus)

  • Miso Paste

  • Kefir (Plain)


HERBS & SPICES 🌿

  • Black Nigella

  • Coriander seed

  • Cumin seed

  • Fennel seed

  • Mustard Seeds

  • Paprika powder

  • Turmeric powder

  • Ginger root (fresh is best)

  • Fresh Coriander (Plants on window sill or garden?)

  • Fresh Basil (Plants on window sill or garden?)

  • Fresh Parsley (Plants on window sill or garden?)

  • Fresh Mint (Plants on window sill or garden?)


HERBS FOR TEAS 🌿

  • Raspberry leaf - Uterine Tonic, Mineral tonic, supports painful periods

  • Red clover - Hormone balancer

  • Nettle - Blood builder (essential in fertility)

  • Chamomile - soothes the gut lining, estrobalome)

  • Rose - For love, grief and aphrodisia


OTHER FERTILITY ESSENTIALS: *THINK MINERALS

  • Raw Coconut water (full of electrolytes and minerals)

  • Seaweeds - Dulse, Kelp (add to broths and remove after) buy dried and sprinkle on food)

  • Olives & Olive Oil (full of polyphenols and other antioxidants)

  • Shatavari powder can be added to milk or make a chai - (enhances libido and balances hormones)

  • Gelatine Powder (I like Ossa) to make Gummies, Panna Cotta, Jelly (Pure Collagen)
