Watch ‘THE ROLE OF THE GUT’ Workshop

Kapha types often get constipation from too much heavy food and lethargy

Vata types tend towards rabbit dropping poo’s that are dry when stressed and too ‘busy’ all over the place

Pitta types rarely, if not ever get constipated.

To ensure you do not get constipated:

  • Drink plenty of water each day, don’t let yourself get dehydrated, carry a water bottle around with filtered water. Drink 1-2 litres. I tend to drink a few glasses in the mornings to rehydrate after sleep which is about a litre. I have a 1 litre bottle out with me so I know I have to have that finished by the time I get home. I make sure I always leave a glass of water on the side at home to remind me. Listen to your body signlas, don’t over drink if you don’t feel thirsty that’s just as bad as not drinking water. The key is to drink outside of eating, and first thing in the morning is essential to hydrate after a fast.

  • Eat plenty of fibre to feed the gut bacteria and keep things moving. BEANS are the best for this!

  • Be mindful that pregnancy can cause constipation which is normal due to baby position and feeding baby. Often the digestive system slows down to make sure the growing baby gets what it needs which can lead to a little constipation.

  • Be mindful that breasftfeeding can cause constipation which is usually linked to a lot of breastfeeding and lack of fluids
