PMS - Premenstrual Syndrome

PMS is not something that you have to live with, although the NHS would disagree. PMS is due to a hormone imbalance and lack of rest.

Not enough Progesterone often creates more symptoms of PMS especially mood-related.

Herbs to help would be herbs that regulate hormone levels in the body, that support the liver in recycling excess hormones and herbs that increase progesterone.

It is a syndrome meaning it is not a condition but just a set of symptoms grouped together.

I believe if we learn to live in rhythm with our cycle and rest more in the luteal phase when PMS predominates then maybe the symptoms wouldn’t be so bad.

What if we could honour more rest and nurture this ‘NO BULLSHIT ZONE’

HERBS

ALCHEMILLA VULGARIS/LADY’S MANTLE - is my favourite for PMS in general as it increases progesterone.

VITEX AGNUS CASTUS - for swollen tender breasts

DANDELION ROOT/TARAXACUM OFFICINALIS - supports the liver and encourages excess oestrogen out of the body which then balances progesterone levels. TURMERIC will also support the liver.

GINKGO - can be a nice tea to drink for microcirculation and clear mental fatigue, low mood, heavy head.

TEA

Gingko leaf

Alchemilla leaf

Red clover bud and leaf

Rose petal
